Wish there were more bright colors on the bag, however it’s not supposed to stand out. I was diagnosed with Alpha Gal and carry an Epi-pen and Benadryl with me everywhere I go and I also have a concealed carry permit, which allows me to carry off body. Purchased the Vertex Tourist first and it was just to small, this is much better and I ❤️ The designated compartment for a handgun and the ease of deployment!!I’ve had the slightly small transit sling, but have found it to not be big enough for my essential carry items and a laptop and an iPad without using the CCW pocket, which defeats the purpose of the secret CCW! I love the sling bag over the backpack, and now that I have to carry a laptop daily to work, I decided that the slightly larger commuter bag might be ideal… well, not so much. Basically it’s pretty much the same as the smaller Transit, just taller and a bit wider, but does not have a seperate laptop pocket from the main area. I don’t like to put item in the front flap as it does make it bulk out- so the main pocket gets very crowded. I opted for the not as ideal Vertx Ready Pack/back pack. Much larger and not sling… but I can be more organized and not stuff each section… seems to be working so far! Gotta say, the workman ship it amazing and I otherwise love the bag… if the Commuter 2 had a dedicated laptop area between the CCW and main pocket, would have been perfect!Vertx makes great gear and this bag is no different. It's a well thought out and comfortable bag with excellent construction. Mine however, has a defect I didn't notice right away. The loops used to attach the hooks for the expansion flap were placed in the wrong location. The loops should be near the top and mine are placed near the bottom of the bag. This makes the expansion flap unusable.I was looking for a sling bag that would fit the following criteriaIt has to hold my folding 7.5 inch barrel ar 15It has to accept body armor. This bag fit my needs and still has an admin compartment.I own this bag and a overland.Amazingly well made product, at a much lower price here, than on the Vertx website. Well worth it, if you’re looking to sling carry any type of shorter EDCTL;DRThis EDC sling is well designed and it can easily accommodate a full size S&W (9mm and .40) along with extra magazine. It also carries my iPad, wireless keyboard and mouse as well as a folio with no problem. I can easily and quickly access any of the compartments, especially the concealed carry compartment, which is the main reason I bought it.However, the material they use (bought the Blue model) scuffs VERY easily making it look worn and tattered barely after 6 months have passed.FULL REVIEWThe Blue commuter sling is just the right size to carry not only a full size firearm and extra magazines, but I am certain that you could carry a rifle with a folding/collapsible stock without any problems. The main compartment has ample room for a tablet, a wireless keyboard, a Surface Pro (I carry this on occasion) a folio with writing pad and an an accessory "pouch" that has some misceleneaous USB cables for charging, a USB wall adapters/charger, a couple batteries and some of the obligatory Apple lightening dongles. The front compartment easily carries my medicines, an extended billfold, writing instruments, a small LED flashlight and even a Leatherman tool alongside my reading glasses case with no problem. While it does get heavy, it's not bursting at the seams with stuff and the excellent design of the sling and supporting straps makes it a breeze to wear all day long. The blue color is perfect as it allow me to have a tactical bag without advertising that I'm carrying a tactical bag. I get compliments on my "really nice book bag" all the time. I am continually interacting with people from different walks of life, many are anti-2A and none have any idea what I'm carrying. This is exactly what I was looking for in a bag.The BIG downside...While it's engineered well, the material and/or fabric dye/coloring falls woefully short. It scuffs VERY easily making this new bag seem years older even though it's barely six months old. The fact that the only "duty" this bag sees is on the passenger (sometimes back ) seat of my (luxury) vehicle or on the back of an office chair is what's really concerning. Over the past 6 months where we've been locked down, this bag hasn't seen the ground once nor has it been "out and about" for what I would normally see in a day.I work form home now so it sits on a couch when I am ready to go out and then it's on the leather seat of my car and then on the back of an office chair or on the top of a table. Now, I'm sure I've bumped into things/people as I navigate my way around, but I've had cheap Jansports purchased from Walmart that didn't scuff this easily. This is the only reason for the 3 star review. Maybe the scuffs will be less visible on the darker colors or the material stronger the more "tactical" units, but at this high price, I don't expect it to wear this easily. This bag couldnt be better built. Quality all around. Works amazing as an EDC bag.
